A group of Minnesota home care providers have brought to the U.S. Supreme Court their First Amendment challenge to a state law that allows such workers to seek union representation.
Their petition seeking high court review comes about a week after a conservative advocacy group in a separate case asked the justices to bar a Minnesota public sector union from representing workers who aren’t members.
The home health providers’ action is the latest chapter in litigation targeting Minnesota’s Individual Providers of Direct Support Services Representation Act, which was enacted in 2013 and covers about 27,000 workers who provide in-home care ...
