New York minimum wages would increase by $2 an hour over the next three years and then rise annually based on inflation going forward, under a plan Gov. Kathy Hochul announced as part of a state budget deal struck with legislative leaders.
The plan would raise the wage floor for New York City, Long Island, and Westchester to $17 by 2026, up from the current $15 hourly minimum, Hochul (D) said Thursday night in unveiling the budget deal. Automatic annual increases would start in 2027, tied to the Consumer Price Index.
