Hearst Communications Inc. will avoid a wrongful termination lawsuit filed by a former employee who says he was fired for refusing to get a Covid-19 vaccine, but Hearst Stations Inc. must face a claim that the firing violated Massachusetts law.
George Rodrique II alleged his firing in 2021 violated the federal and state Civil Rights Acts, Americans with Disabilities Act, and another state law, the court said. Rodrique was a Hearst videographer from 2004 until December 2021, save for one year between 2015 and 2016, and he was denied a religious exemption from the company’s vaccination mandate.
