Healthcare Workers Union, Machinists Cultivate Partnership

An unlikely partnership has sprung up between two unions: the International Association of Machinists and the National Union of Healthcare Workers.

The unions have cultivated a partnership out of a shared interest in representing health-care workers, specifically employees in mental health care, Sal Rosselli, president of the NUHW, told Bloomberg Law Oct. 24.

For the NUHW, the goal of the relationship is to strengthen their legislative and organizing efforts by using the Machinists’ resources, Rosselli said.

“They have an extraordinary operation in D.C.,” he said.
