Hawaii Hotel Illegally Kept Covid-19 Info From Union, NLRB Says

A Hawaii hotel violated federal labor law when it refused to give an employee union information about why it stopped regularly cleaning guests’ rooms during the Covid-19 pandemic, the National Labor Relations Board ruled.

The Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort in Honolulu closed during the early stages of the pandemic and reopened in December 2020. When it did so, management instructed cleaning staff to enter occupied rooms only when the guest requested a cleaning and not daily as required by the union’s collective bargaining agreement.
