Hartford Insurers Sue Data Company Over Privacy Litigation Costs

Hartford Insurance Group Inc. units sued Data Axle Inc., seeking a court declaration that they owe no coverage for a proposed class action alleging the data company used people’s identities without consent to market its services.

Multiple policy exclusions bar coverage for the underlying suit, including provisions for intentional conduct, access to confidential information, and violations of privacy statutes, the Hartford units said in a complaint Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of Nebraska.
