Harris Touts Pay Hike for Infrastructure Plans in DOL Rule (2)

The Biden administration will cement changes to the rules governing how much workers are paid on federal construction projects, updates that it says will ensure green energy and infrastructure investments create good paying jobs.

The final rule from the US Labor Department, which was officially unveiled by Vice President Kamala Harris at a union hall in Pennsylvania Tuesday, is the first update in 40 years to the formula the government uses to set “prevailing wages” under the Davis-Bacon Act. The new rule is estimated to provide higher wages for more than 1 million US construction workers on government projects.
