‘Harnessing Happiness’ Caused Discrimination, Cost $5.1M

A Brooklyn jury awarded $5.1 million to United Health Programs of America employees who said their company discriminated and retaliated against them on religious grounds.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission brought the lawsuit on behalf of 10 workers who said UHP required them to read and discuss spiritual texts at work, thank God for their job, and tell their managers, “I love you.”
