Halliburton Co. doesn’t accurately compensate oilfield workers for all hours worked, according to a lawsuit filed in a federal court in Texas.
The company pays a fixed amount per day no matter how long the work day lasts, rather than an hourly wage and time-and-a-half pay for hours beyond 40 in a week, according to the complaint filed Jan. 12. Brian German says he was typically scheduled for 12-hour shifts, sometimes as many as seven days a week. His primary job duties as a measurement-while-drilling operator included collecting and relaying data to other oilfield personnel for analysis, he says.
