H-1B Workers, Spouses Stuck Abroad Sue Agencies Over Visa Freeze

President Donald Trump exceeded his authority by issuing a proclamation barring certain visa holders from reentering the U.S. through the end of the year due to coronavirus’ effect on the American economy, a group of high-skilled guest workers allege in a federal lawsuit.

Trump’s June 22 proclamation, which suspended foreign nationals’ return to the U.S. to resume employment under approved H-1B petitions, constitutes an unlawful attempt to regulate the domestic economy, according to the workers’ complaint filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for for the District of Columbia.
