H-1B Specialty Occupation Visa Petitions Reach Fiscal 2023 Cap

Employers have submitted enough petitions to reach the fiscal year 2023 cap on H-1B specialty occupation visas, US Citizenship and Immigration Services announced.

The agency has notified applicants whose petitions for the visas have been rejected, USCIS said Tuesday. The H-1B program, which is especially popular in the tech industry, has a yearly limit of 85,000 visas. Of those, 20,000 are reserved for workers with advanced degrees.

This year was the third that USCIS has allowed employers to submit registrations through an online system before petitioning for the visas.
