National Labor Relations Board General Counsel Richard F. Griffin Oct. 2 agreed with a regional director’s finding that Sherwin Alumina Co. lawfully locked out about 450 employees nearly a year ago in a contract dispute with the United Steelworkers that hasn’t yet been resolved by the company and union (Sherwin Alumina Co., NLRB Office of Appeals, 16-CA-143944, appeal denied 10/2/15).
The union alleged that the company locked out employees at a Corpus Christi, Texas, facility in support of contract proposals on permissive subjects and failed to inform the union of the reasons for the lockout5 DLR A-7, 1/8/15, 29 LRW 47, 1/14/15
