GOP Senator Wants RFK Jr. to Restore Worker Safety Researchers

Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) is urging the Department of Health and Human Services to bring back employees at the federal agency responsible for researching work-related injuries.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health plays a unique role across the federal government, Capito said in a letter Monday to HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., addressing cuts of nearly 900 staffers at the agency. The workforce reduction was part of an HHS reorganization announced April 1 that would affect 10,000 employees.
