GOP Reps Press Labor Secretary for Joint Employer Rule (1)

A group of House members is pushing the head of the Labor Department to create regulations to clarify joint employer liability.

The mostly Republican group, led by House Education and the Workforce subcommittee Chairman Bradley Byrne (R-Ala.), sent a letter Oct. 1 to Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta. Co-signed by 83 House members, it asks the DOL to update the joint employer standard for businesses in staffing, franchise, and other contractual relationships under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The FLSA addresses employment issues such as minimum wages, overtime pay, and child labor standards.
