GOP Attorneys General Demand More Congressional ESG Oversight

A pair of Republican attorneys general called on Congress to investigate the influence Wall Street climate investment pledges have on public utility companies, the latest in a red-state campaign against ESG portfolios that has embroiled the nation’s retirement benefits.

Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes and Alabama’s top legal official Steven Marshall told a House oversight panel Wednesday that their respective states’ private-sector 401(k) and public pension plan participants are threatened by a green-investing pressure movement made up of “global elites” hoping to influence asset managers and publicly traded companies.
