Google Jointly Employs Contract Workers, US Labor Board Rules

Google is a joint employer of a group of contract staffers who voted to unionize more than a year ago, a divided National Labor Relations Board ruled.

Google, a division of Alphabet Inc., has enough control over the workers to make the software giant share duties under federal labor law with Accenture, which directly employs the workers, the NLRB said in an unpublished 2-1 ruling Friday.

The jointly employed workers voted 26-2 to join the Alphabet Workers Union in a vote tallied in November 2023.
