Google LLC discriminated against a senior executive by paying her less than her male peers and denying her a promotion that was given to a less-qualified man, a lawsuit filed in New York federal court alleges.

Ulku Rowe, a female technical director for the Mountain View, Calif.-based tech giant’s Cloud platform, accused Google of hiring her at a lower level because of her sex, according to a complaint filed Sept. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
