Goldman Hires Outside Attorney as Partner and Co-General Counsel

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. hired Karen Patton Seymour from Sullivan & Cromwell LLP as co-general counsel to share oversight of the firm’s legal department with Greg Palm.

Seymour will begin next month and join the management committee, New York-based Goldman Sachs said Dec. 19 in a statement. She’s at least the fifth person to be hired as a partner, the firm’s highest rank, from outside the company this year.

Seymour, 56, earlier worked in the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York in roles including chief of the criminal division. As a federal prosecutor, she’s best ...
