The United Auto Workers union in a lawsuit filed against General Motors Feb. 26 is asking a court to order the company to “rescind its decision to close” three facilities.
GM’s decision to “unallocate” facilities in Lordstown, Ohio; White Marsh, Md., near Baltimore; and Warren, Mich., is essentially the same as closing the plants, the union said in a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. The company’s action breached a 2015 labor agreement that restricts it from closing or idling facilities unless conditions “beyond the control of the Company” arise, the complaint says. ...
