GM Settles Immigration-Based Discrimination Claims for $365,000

General Motors Co. will pay $365,000 in civil penalties and provide training to employees as part of a settlement with the US Justice Department over allegations of immigration-related discrimination at the company.

The DOJ announced Tuesday that an investigation revealed the automaker had violated the Immigration and Nationality Act when it improperly combined efforts to comply with export control laws and verify workers’ employment eligibility.
