General Motors Co. and the United Auto Workers late Oct. 25 reached a tentative four-year agreement that is expected to provide raises across the board for nearly 50,000 workers, averting a potential strike.
The union announced the deal in an e-mailed statement without giving details. Local union leaders at Detroit-based GM are set to vote Oct. 28 on whether to send the accord to rank-and-file members for a ratification vote.
