GM Beats Chronically Late Ex-Worker’s Disability Bias Suit Again

A former General Motors LLC design employee who was diagnosed with persistent depressive disorder and a brain tumor soon after being fired for regularly missing work and being late saw her discrimination lawsuit loss affirmed by the Sixth Circuit Tuesday.

Haley Hrdlicka’s single, unsubstantiated statement that she was depressed didn’t put General Motors on notice of a disability because the mere mention of depression is insufficient to qualify as an apparent severe symptom, the court said.
