Glencore Worker Must Arbitrate Pregnancy, Harassment Claims

A woman on Glencore Ltd.'s crude oil trading desk can’t pursue in court her claims that she denied promotion because of her sex and pregnancy, a federal court ruled.

Erin Murphy also alleges in her June 2018 lawsuit that she was told to pump breast milk in an “unsanitary and unusable” supply closet and mocked and ignored when she complained. Female employees at Glencore are treated like second-class citizens and the crude oil trading desk is rife with crass, sexually-charged, alcohol-fueled behavior that is pervasively hostile toward women, Murphy charges.
