Gig Worker Classification Rule Case Put on Hold Pending Appeal

A trucking company’s legal challenge to a new US Labor Department worker classification rule is on hold while a federal appeals court weighs the company’s request to freeze the regulation.

Judge Eldon E. Fallon of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana issued a stay in the case Wednesday, saying the pause was necessary in light of Frisard’s Transportation LLC’s appeal of his March 8 denial of the company’s request for a temporary restraining order.
