New York lawmakers are not likely to tackle gig-worker rights during the current legislative session, as the state continues to battle an ever-growing outbreak of the new coronavirus, Gov.
Cuomo’s January budget proposal included the creation of a task force to study the issue. The Democrat and other state lawmakers had said they planned to follow California’s lead by enacting regulations protecting workers during this legislative session, which ends June 2.
