Georgia Pathology Lab Settles EEOC Sex Discrimination Lawsuit

An Alpharetta, Ga., pathology laboratory will pay $50,000 to settle a sex discrimination and retaliation lawsuit, according to the EEOC Friday.

Bakotic Pathology Associates, LLC, allegedly terminated an employee who was experiencing pregnancy-related symptoms while she was on approved medical leave and receiving short-term disability benefits.

Such alleged conduct violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, said the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In addition to monetary relief, Bako must provide training on Title VII’s prohibitions of sex discrimination and retaliation.

The case is EEOC v. Bakotic Pathology Associates, LLC, N.D. Ga., No. 1:23-cv-03918, 2/23/24.
