Geico Gets Most Worker Claims Trimmed in Wage-and-Hour Dispute

Geico defeated a worker’s attempt to send a wage-and-hour case back to state court and then convinced a federal judge to pare back most of the employment claims.

There’s more than $5.7 million at stake, so the case stays in federal court, the US District Court for the Southern District of California said. The would-be class complaint needs more factual allegations to support six of the worker’s eight claims, but he can amend four of those and try again, the court said in a second Wednesday order.
