GE to Cut More Jobs at Jet-Engine Unit in Sign of Enduring Pain

General Electric Co.’s jet-engine unit plans to shed more jobs over the next 18 months, expanding an earlier goal of slashing the workforce by 25%, said a person familiar with the matter.

The plans were announced Nov. 20 by GE Aviation’s Chief Executive Officer John Slattery in a video message to employees, said the person, who asked not to be named because the discussions are private. While Slattery didn’t reveal any specific targets, he said the additional reduction would be more focused than the 13,000 job cuts announced earlier this year, the person said.
