Fuyao Glass Workers in Ohio Want to Join UAW

Employees at a Fuyao Glass plant in Moraine, Ohio, filed a petition for a union certification election in hopes of being represented by the United Auto Workers, a union spokesman confirmed.

The union would represent the plant’s production and maintenance workers, who filed their petition with the National Labor Relations Board Oct. 16.

Roughly 2,000 people work at the plant, which the union says has high job turnover and unsafe working conditions.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has issued 24 safety violations against Fuyao Glass America Inc. The company contested 13 of those incidents.
