Funds to Train Seniors Diverted, Mismanaged, Audit Says

The largest recipient of federal grant funds to train unemployed senior citizens misused more than $4 million from 2012 to 2015, the Labor Department’s Office of Inspector General found.

Experience Works Inc. received about $84 million directly from the DOL’s Employment and Training Administration each year from 2012 to 2015. The funds are meant to train thousands of unemployed seniors as part of the Senior Community Service Employment Program.
