Full Second Circuit to Hear Debate on Sexual Orientation Bias

The full federal appeals court in New York has agreed to review whether a federal civil rights law bans employment discrimination based on a worker’s sexual orientation (Zarda v. Altitude Express, Inc., 2d Cir., No. 15-3775, en banc review granted 5/25/17).

This is “a very encouraging sign” for advocates of federal legal protection for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender workers, said Gregory Nevins, a senior attorney with Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund Inc. in Atlanta.
