Fresno State Lacrosse Players Again Denied Class Certification

Former California State University, Fresno women’s lacrosse players lost their second bid for class certification in their Title IX case against the university arising from the program’s elimination.

The players are ill-suited to represent all potentially affected female student athletes, the US District Court for the Eastern District of California said, holding that the competition among teams for the university’s limited resources creates a conflict despite the players’ professed neutrality.

The court granted the players leave to seek class certification again, as long as it’s specific to women’s lacrosse.
