Fred Meyer Fails to Ditch EEOC’s Sex Discrimination Class Claims

Fred Meyer Stores Inc. must face a sex bias suit the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed on behalf of women who work for the retail chain, a federal judge said.

One worker’s initial charge with the agency gave Fred Meyer enough information to put the store on notice that she wasn’t the only employee who allegedly faced sexual harassment from a male coworker, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Washington said. One potential class member’s claims might be time barred, but it’s too soon to dismiss any of the parties, the Wednesday order said.
