BOSTON—Beverage workers at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., July 31 voted for representation by United Food and Commercial Workers Local 371, according to the union and the National Labor Relations Board.
The vote among 391 eligible bartenders, bar porters, and beverage servers was 190 for the union and 145 against representation, said a spokeswoman for NLRB Region 34 in Hartford.
But Foxwoods general counsel Jackson King told BNA Aug. 2 that the casino will challenge the election results, maintaining that NLRB does not have jurisdiction under the National Labor Relations Act over an enterprise run by the Mashantucket Pequot ...
