Former Schneider Electric Worker Gets Age Bias Trial (1)

A 54-year-old worker laid off from Schneider Electric USA can bring his age discrimination claims to trial, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court said Wednesday.

The employee’s allegations of ageism overcame the high burden employees must meet when presenting evidence of bias in a workplace discrimination claim.

“Schneider Electric appeared to have a corporate strategy of hiring younger employees and reducing the number of older employees to improve ‘age diversity’ at the company,” the opinion said.
