A former top attorney for the US Labor Department is suing the agency for discrimination and retaliation, alleging a toxic workplace culture for Black attorneys.
In a lawsuit filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of Columbia, Oscar Hampton said he was was demoted and removed from his position as regional solicitor for DOL’s Philadelphia office based on unfounded complaints “predicated on racial tropes” from white subordinates, in violation of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
