First Unum Life Insurance Co. improperly denied disability benefits to a former administrative manager with law firm Hughes Hubbard and Reed LLP, according to a new suit in New Jersey federal court.
Marlene Mezquita worked for the firm since 1987 and began suffering complications from a fall in June 2018, according to her complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey. The fall caused a mild traumatic brain injury, and Mezquita later contracted Covid-19 in February 2020, the complaint said.
