A former diplomat with the People’s Republic of China will spend 190 months in jail and pay over $70,000 in fines and restitution for a forced labor scheme involving domestic workers from China.
Dan Zhong, the former head of U.S. operations of Chinese Liaoning Rilin Construction Co. Ltd., was convicted by a federal jury in March on charges of conspiracy to provide forced labor, conspiracy to commit alien smuggling, and conspiracy to commit visa fraud, the Justice Department said in a statement Nov. 25.
