Foreigners Duped into Fake College Enrollment Settle with U.S.

The U.S. government won’t use foreign students’ enrollment in a fake university set up by the Department of Homeland Security to issue deportation orders or deny immigration benefits, according to a proposed class action settlement announced Friday.

DHS launched the University of Northern New Jersey to identify and catch brokers of fraudulent student visas. But the operation led to the termination of student visas for many foreign students who enrolled at the phony school as well.
