Foreign Students Sue to End Lengthy Work Authorization Delays

A group of Chinese students is suing the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services over its sluggish processing of applications for foreign coeds applying for post-graduate work training, according to the lawsuit.

Starting in mid-October, the agency stopped opening, processing, and adjudicating applications submitted by the 18 plaintiffs and similarly situated F-1 student visa holders to participate in optional practical training programs, causing “imminent and irreparable harm,” according to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio late Tuesday.
