Florida Minimum-Wage Effort Approved by State’s Highest Court

A ballot proposal to raise Florida’s hourly minimum wage to $15 by 2026 has been approved by the state’s highest court.

The Raising Florida’s Minimum Wage initiative would raise the state’s hourly minimum wage to $10, effective Sept. 30, 2021. The wage would rise by $1 every Sept. 30 until it reaches $15 on Sept. 30, 2026. Starting Sept. 30, 2027, the minimum wage would be reviewed annually for possible inflation-related adjustments.

The proposal satisfied the requirements to appear on the Nov. 3, 2020, ballot, the Florida Supreme Court said in a Dec. 19 ruling.
