Florida Colleges’ Adjunct Professors to File for Union (1)

Non-tenure professors at seven Florida public colleges will have submitted paperwork by Dec. 14 for a union election, according to the Service Employees International Union.

The adjunct faculty teach at Santa Fe College, St. Petersburg College, Lake Sumter Community College, Polk State College, Florida Gateway College, Chipola College, and South Florida State College.

Approximately 200 faculty members at St. Petersburg College have signed union cards, Angela Edwards-Luckett, an adjunct professor there, told Bloomberg Law. One change she’d like to see would be the elimination of pay fluctuations based on student enrollment.
