Florida Bill Blocking Worker Heat Protection Headed to DeSantis

Florida cities and counties would be preempted from mandating workplace heat-protection standards, such as one Miami-Dade County has been considering, as well as employee scheduling restrictions under legislation that’s headed to Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for his signature.

The Florida House and Senate agreed on a final version of the Republican-backed bill (HB 433) on Friday, the last day of the state’s 2024 legislative session.
