Companies that lack flexible work options for employees are missing out on big opportunities to compete for top talent, compensation executives said May 10.
Many industries ask employees to work long hours, sometimes for long stretches of time, so work-life balance can be hard to attain for many workers, Jon Takagaki, global compensation manager for engineering and construction company Bechtel, told attendees of the WorldatWork Total Rewards conference in Washington. Flexible work arrangements allow Bechtel to be competitive in recruiting top talent because it can afford workers that balance, he said.
