Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta heads to the Hill this week for the agency’s first oversight hearing of the Committee on Education and Labor since Democrats took control of the House. One area of questioning will be about former DOL official Michael Avakian’s ethics violations. The Labor Department missed a deadline to respond to 13 questions related to Avakian from the panel’s chair, Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.).
Overtime, Too: Some of the 28 Democratic committee members are expected to press Acosta over Avakian, as well as regulations such as the proposed rule expanding overtime eligibility.
