Fired Texas Cop Gets New Try at Whistleblower, Retaliation Suit

A fired Indian police officer will get to proceed on her whistleblower and retaliation lawsuit, after a Texas appeals court ruled Tuesday that evidence shows she made a good faith report against her boss’s alleged criminal activity and implementation of discriminatory hiring policies.

The officer provided enough evidence for her claims under the Whistleblower Act and the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act to overturn the district court’s judgment that it lacked subject matter jurisdiction over the case, the Houston appellate court held.
