The federal government’s private-sector pension insurer is one step closer to issuing a final regulation outlining how bailout money Congress approved last year for failing plans will be distributed.

The White House concluded its regulatory review of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation rule (RIN 1212-AB53) this week, marking the last hurdle the federal agency must overcome before publishing its final policy.
