Ferro Corp. Age Bias Suit Goes to Trial on Reason for Firing

A 69-year-old former manager at a paste and tape manufacturer is entitled to have her age discrimination suit go to trial because questions of fact exist over her employer’s reasons for terminating her, a federal court said.

Ferro Corp. said that it let Patricia Rysak go because of poor job performance, but Rysak’s evidence created a genuine question of whether the reason was just pretext for discrimination, the April 28 opinion by Judge Timothy J. Savage of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania said.
