Female Nebraska Professor Loses Gender Bias, Retaliation Appeal

A criminal justice professor who was terminated after complaining that a male colleague made more than her lost her bid to get her gender discrimination and retaliation claims revived by the Eighth Circuit.

Ronicka Schottel and Daniel Hayes began teaching in the same position at Nebraska’s Peru State College 2012. The college paid Hayes $1,500 more than Schottel for five years, until she was promoted to assistant professor in 2017.
