Female Lockheed Martin Lawyer Loses Pay Bias, Some Other Claims

Lockheed Martin Corp. defeated some of a Black female attorney’s claims that she experienced race discrimination, sex-based pay bias, and other unfair treatment while serving as an in-house lawyer with the company, the District of Minnesota ruled.

Daniel’la Deering failed to adequately plead her Equal Pay Act, defamation, and intentional infliction of emotional distress claims, the court said. Deering held various jobs in Lockheed’s rotary and mission systems division and says that the high quality of her work was routinely overlooked, that she was deprived of necessary assistance and denied promotions that went to less qualified White lawyers, and that ...
